DSA Funding — Next Steps

After receiving your diagnostic assessment report, several Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) funding routes are available to help fund specialist equipment, software, and support.

What the DSA Can Fund

• Specialist software (e.g. text-to-speech, mind-mapping, grammar checking)
• Assistive technology equipment (e.g. digital recorders, specialist computers)
• Non-medical helper support (e.g. specialist mentors, study skills tutors)
• Travel costs related to disability needs

The funding route depends on your circumstances — whether you are in England, Wales, or Scotland, and whether you are funded through Student Finance, the NHS, or a Research Council.

DSA Funding Routes

• NHS Wales DSA Funding — for healthcare students in Wales funded through Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW)
• NHS England DSA Funding — for healthcare students in England funded through NHS England
• Research Council DSA Funding — for postgraduate students funded by a UK Research Council (AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC, STFC)
